What's the meaning of love?

I guess at the root of it, "love" is the feeling one gets when he or she wants to be close to someone, and share things together.
For example, "I love my cat," means I want to be close to my cat and share things with her (pat it, play with it, etc).
But of course we can get much more philosophical than that :)
